Wineries of the Rioja Alavesa

Rioja Alavesa is one of the most prestigious international wine zones. A privileged area with a microclimate that makes their wines unique. As part of the visit to the province of Álava, apart from a visit to the capital city Vitoria, it's also a great idea to visit some of his most famous wineries. Here is the winery of Marqués de Riscal, where I did a guided tour, and the Wineries Ysios, which I only saw from the outside. Both are in the southern province of Álava. Spanish

Marqués de Riscal winery is the oldest in the Rioja. It was founded in 1860 and has always been renowned for its pioneering nature. He introduced French techniques of wine production in Spain. In 1998 Marqués de Riscal becomes pioneer on the combination of a production space with a space for leisure and they created the City of Wine in the village of Elciego.

Here is another winery in the town of Laguardia. Opened in 2001, Ysios was one of the first wineries that brought the world of wine with cutting-edge architecture, in this case with a team of architects led by Santiago Calatrava.
